The Rios Group, Inc. (TRG) was tasked with providing Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services for the proposed northbound lanes of Kuykendahl Road between Lake Woodlands Parkway and Bay Branch Drive in The Woodlands, Texas. This project included thirteen (13) test holes with Quality Level B services to locate these utilities prior to digging. The test holes were in locations where utilities crossed the proposed roadway. Utilities investigated included sanitary sewer force main, CenterPoint gas, AT&T fiber optic, and buried electric. Survey by TRG was not included in this scope of work. There was a concern with finding the location of the sanitary sewer force main due to its non-toneable material and lack of surface features. TRG investigated the force main in a known location in order to get an offset from the tree line that could be used to find the utility in the desired location. This method proved successful and actually saved time and effort overall. The final deliverable involved a field sketch and AutoCAD file depicting the horizontal location of each designated utility and each test hole, and a test hole summary containing field notes.
